I just wanted to put up an apology for my little out burst on Vent during the raid. I am sorry to anyone i shushed or told to shut up. It was out of line and it ownt happen again. I understand we are all playing this game for fun. But it can be hard to organize 30 plus poeple with lots of chatter. I am not excusing the way i handled it. I just hope everyone can cut me alittle slack. I am normally a bastard in raids tryign to keep things moving but will do better to not be quite that mean. So if you can forgive me i would aprecaite it.

<3 for freak, man seriously no one should be angry cause its not like what you have to do is easy and your shouting for no reason, if people dont do their jobs they have to be told. I know I messed up today and I apologize for that. However you shouldnt have to apologize for taking the stressful role of organizing nearly 40 people.

apologizing implies you were wrong, I don't see why this is necessary

it's cool to want to have fun on raids and that's what they're for, but fucking around and not paying attention, wiping, causing wipes, etc., it's not fun for us people who have to go out and farm for the 20g-40g in pots and 10g repairs (that's just my numbers per week, multiply it by the 20+ people who do the same and that's a ton of wasted gold) over 2 hours of raiding because people aren't concentrating on what's going on

freak, telp, orc, everyone who runs the raids - they're all putting more effort into it so that the rest of us have it easier. sure freak cracks the whip when it's needed, but look what it's gotten us, hakkar + 5 priests down in one night, 4 aq20 bosses down in one run, a month ago we had to devote nearly 2 hours of solid attempts to get hakkar down and we couldn't even complete the rajaxx event.

/salute raid leaders

Freak you need to take control like you did if we ever hope to make progress and be consistent. If you ever sound like the welp's guy then we have a problem. I also want people to know that we raid because it is fun. We want everyone in the raid to have fun first and for most. But remember that by us wiping if we are messing around cost everyone money. So taht is not fair to the other members in the raid. The one problem i do have is when people try to talk over the raid leaders when explaining boss fights or before pulls when we are marking targets. If things go bad please listen to the raid leader to minimize the chance of a wipe. On that note, GJ last night in MC and lets keep up the good work.

Corve

Mon Nov 20, 2006 11:02 am   Well...

The Obligatory Corve Opinion

With as many people as we have in a raid (even 20 is quite a few), there are inherent problems that must always be taken into consideration. The main problems as I see them are focus and vent chatter, and both of these problems often feed off each other. It is much easier to become distracted with people talking incessantly in Vent, and people who are distracted from the mission at hand are more likely to be chattering during pulls, instructions, etc. It’s a vicious cycle that we must always struggle to curb as soon as it starts getting out of hand.

Freak, I in no way whatsoever believe that you were out of line on Sunday. We will always need peacemakers in the raid (FP, Telp, Jun, etc.) but if there isn’t someone willing to come across as a jerk occasionally, we make zero progress and nobody is happy. It’s all about balance.

Now, notice that I said “someone willing to come across as a jerk” instead of someone who IS a jerk. Freak, Horrible, Orclok, Neeser and others have all at one point or another called out people for being off task. This does not make them bad people or jerks. In fact, I think each of these people is great... I think GP in general is great. If you get pissed at something they say, stop and look at the message they were trying to get across. Frankly, if it hurts your feelings, there’s a good chance there might be some validity to what they said as it applies to you.

Molten Core, more than anything we’ve accomplished so far, requires us all to pay attention, follow directions, be aware of our surroundings and do our jobs to the very best of our abilities. If you are chattering on Vent constantly, making silly mistakes or simply not doing what you are asked repeatedly to do… maybe you are ready for the Core quite yet.
