One of the things that I have been after as a Mage is polymorph turtle. I suspect that virtually any mage in the raid would love to have it, but no one is pushing us towards it until now...

I've done my home work and know how to get it; it is part of a fishing quest and does eventually involve fighting a boss named Gahz'ranka. Besides dropping the book of Polymorph Turtle, Ghaz can drop 2 epic items (a staff that Feral Driuds would flip for and a rogue/hunter/feral druid eyepatch that is ok), a blue trinket that extends spell range by 15% for a limited time, and several other nice items.

The entire thing kicks off by finding an item that has to be returned to Nat Pagel, the artisian fishing trainer. The item rests along the riverside to the north of the Snake aspect boss, so the first step in this is to clear 2-3 trash mobs and to get someone with 300 fishing skill (and stealth, preferably) to loot the quest item (not sure if it can only be looted once per run or not).

So that's it for now - we clear a couple of extra trash mobs and we can can get started on the quest that allows us to summon Gahz'ranka.

Rolling Eyes

Ok, so you want to know the rest. Ok, the people with the quest over the next week head off to Dustswallow Marsh and turn in the item to Nat. This allows them to buy a 1g lure that in turn allows them to catch a special fish in ZG. So the next time we go raiding (or, if they have stealth, they may be able to sneak in and get this done in advance) they will need to fish out a couple of the "Muddy Churing Waters" fishing swirlies and they must gather a total of 5 Zulian Mudskunks. Once you have the 5 Mudskunks, you return to the place where the quest started and can now summon Gahz'ranka.

Gahz'ranka? Big, big critter. He has an attack that can toss the entire raid into the air. I have seen a number of comments that it is one of cooler, more enjoyable fights in the game. We need to do some more research on how to beat him, but first we need to take the baby steps and get some folks able to summon the big guy.

Telperion has 2 lures and is working to get his third. He also knows how to summon and fight Ghaz and has been ready since we started ZG cause the helm that drops is #1 on my list of head pieces even over Bloodfang. Prob is the summon area is on the far side and we ususally dont go there cause we still farm the bosses. Once we get goin 2 days a week, which is gonna happen as soon as I get my room ready downtown, we will be able to work on him and the monthly summoned bosses as well as tiger/panther and jin'do

Actually the trinket increases your chance to hit with spells by 10%. God knows how many times a mage is annoyed after casting a Arcane Power Pyroblast only to see <Resisted> show up on the SCT.
